How to measure at home (the 7-day method)

  1. Seven days in a row, ideally the week before a doctor's appointment.
  2. Morning before medication and breakfast, and evening before dinner.
  3. Each time sit quietly for 5 minutes, then take two readings one minute apart and log both.
  4. Upper-arm cuff, arm resting at heart level, feet flat, no talking. Details: Measuring Blood Pressure Correctly: Step by Step.

The European guideline (European Society of Hypertension (ESH) 2023) counts a home average of 135/85 mmHg or higher as high blood pressure — lower than the 140/90 used for readings at the doctor's office, because home readings are taken at rest. Single readings vary a lot; the average over several days is what matters.

Your data stays with you

This log has no server part. Readings are saved in your browser's local storage on this device and are never sent to us or anyone else. That also means: if you clear your browser data or switch devices, the log is gone — use Save backup now and then, and Import backup on your new device. The CSV export opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

This log is a convenience tool, not a medical device. In an emergency — blood pressure of 180/120 or more with chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, vision or speech problems — call 911 (US) or your local emergency number.
